That is because there is no gender-neutral pronoun in English and saying &#8220;him or her&#8221; is wordy and cumbersome. Previously, it was recommended to use the male pronoun &#8220;him&#8221; when the gender of the person is not clear, but this is often considered offensive, sexist and also inadequate. I can reconstruct the sentence to solve the problem. Example: You may say &#8220;goodbye, have a good day&#8221; or &#8220;goodbye have a great day&#8221; when parting company with someone anytime during the day.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>First Published: 1st of January, 2020 by Patrick Carpen.
