The following passage utilizes a wide variety of verb tenses. Can you identify them?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Here are some examples:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I presently live – Simple Present<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I have not lived – Present Perfect <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Had lived – Past Perfect<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I arrived – Simple Past<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The rainy season will last until… – Future<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The scathed vegetation will have regained… – Future Perfect<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I presently live <\/em>in the beautiful city of Campo, Verde, Mato Grosso, Brazil<\/a>. However, I have not lived<\/em> here all my life. I only recently moved <\/em>here about 7 months ago. Before that, I had lived<\/em> in Lethem (Region 9, Guyana<\/a>), Georgetown (Region 4, Guyana<\/a>) and Boa Vista (Roraima, Brazil<\/a>). And boy, were <\/em>those places hot!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

When I arrived <\/em>in Campo Verde last May, I enjoyed<\/em> the moderate weather: it is <\/em>never too hot, never too cold and sometimes just the perfect temperature. In fact, I had learned<\/em> about the beautiful climate of this city seven years ago during my first visit here. And experiencing such beautiful weather, together with a beautiful city and friendly people, made me always want to come <\/em>back. And I sure did<\/em>! But this time, to stay<\/em>! That’s right, I plan <\/em>to call the city of Campo Verde my hometown. This is now my new home!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It is now the month of December and we experience <\/em>intermittent rainfall \u2013 every day or every other day – sometimes in drizzles and sometimes in downpours. I was told that the rainy season lasts <\/em>for six months after which the dry season starts<\/em>. During the dry season, there are <\/em>still some rainy days, and the weather is <\/em>still just as beautiful – but there are a few days which are a bit hotter than normal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Based on what I was told, I expect that the rainy season will last<\/em> until the month of May, 2021. Then, we will have <\/em>six months of dry season. During the dry season, the city council needs <\/em>to water the grass on the lawns, but now in the rainy season, it needs <\/em>to mow <\/em>it down! Now the grass is <\/em>long and green, but when the dry season comes<\/em>, it will start<\/em> to wither <\/em>and lose <\/em>its color. Then the watering of the lawns will start <\/em>again.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

When I arrived <\/em>in Campo Verde in May, 2020, it was <\/em>the dry season. The rainy season started<\/em> in October, 2020. A few days before the rainy season started, the weather station had predicted<\/em> its arrival, and they were<\/em> accurate to the day! Before the present rainy season, the residents had been worrying<\/em> that the dry season was progressing<\/em> beyond its time, but their worries were soon alleviated<\/em>. Whistling above the rooftops one fine morning, heavy winds ushered <\/em>in the rainy season, and everyone breathed <\/em>a sigh of relief.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During the last dry season, the bushes around the nearby waterfall ignited <\/em>due to the heat and dryness. The aftermath of the fire left<\/em> an eyesore <\/em>at a scenery that was once a sight for sore eyes<\/em>. By the time this rainy season is <\/em>over, however, the now scathed vegetation will have regained<\/em> its original beauty.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
