The Revision Control Plugin is one of those few plugins that I consider “essential” to any new WordPress Installation. This is because WordPress, by default, stores unlimited revisions of all pages and posts created.<\/p>\n
So if I created a post or page on “A Trip to Boa Vista,” and I edit that 41 times, then WordPress stores 41 different versions of the same page or post. And what this does is take up space and other resources and could cumulatively bog down both your web host and your website.<\/p>\n
The Revision Control Plugin let’s us set a Maximum Stored Revisions. That is, we can adjust the settings so that WordPress only stores the last three revisions or the last four revisions etc.<\/p>\n
So let’s do this. Let’s go ahead and add the Revisions Control Plugin to our WordPress Website. And I guess by now you know the path: Log in = hotelamazonasgy.com\/wp-admin, type username and password, hit Login.<\/p>\n
Click on My Sites >> Network Admin >> Plugins.<\/p>\n

Then click the “Add New” button you see highlighted above. This\u00a0 would load the plugins directory or the plugins repository so to speak.<\/p>\n

That’s the general look of the WordPress Plugins Repository. Let’s take a closer look.<\/p>\n

As you see above, we’re given the option of uploading a plugin that we bought or downloaded somewhere else on the web. But we’re not even going to touch on that option even slightly at this stage. Let’s leave that for more advanced stages of this course.<\/p>\n
As you can see, we also have an option to browse “Featured Plugins,” which is selected by default when we enter the Plugins Directory.<\/p>\n
We can click on “Popular” to browse all the popular plugins. We can click “Recommended” to see a list of all recommended plugins. I guess they are recommended by WordPress because of popularity, high ratings etc.<\/p>\n
As for favorites, I can’t discuss how that works at this stage, but it has something to do with plugins that you marked as favorite over at WordPress.org. Like I said, we’re not at the stage where I can explain that.<\/p>\n
But if you look over to the right side of this same menu bar, you will see something really sweet. Here it is.<\/p>\n

And that is the option of searching for a plugin by keyword. If we know the plugin that we need, and in this case, we do, we can type in name in their. We can also search by keyword functionality. For example, if we need a plugin to display images, we can type in the keyword “images.”<\/p>\n
So, since we know our plugin’s name, let’s type it in: Revision Control.<\/p>\n

And there it pops up almost immediately. As you can see, the plugin has 33 ratings, averaging 4.5 stars, 100,000 + active installations and it was last updated 5 months ago. So let’s go ahead and click the Install Now Button.<\/p>\n

The plugin has been activated, so now we click the “Network Activate” button.<\/p>\n

And the plugin has been network activated. That means it immediately goes to work on our website. But, we may have to check the default settings to make sure they are suitable to our tastes.<\/p>\n
To do this, go to: My Sites >> The Amazonas Hotel in Lethem >> Dashboard.<\/p>\n
Once back in the Dashboard, click on “Setttings >> Revisions.”<\/p>\n

And ho! ho! ho! It is clear and obvious that the default settings for this plugin is not good at all. As you can see the amount of revisions for Posts, Pages, Custom CSS and TablePress Tables is still set to unlimited by default. Let’s change all of those to our favorite number: 3.<\/p>\n
