At the End of the Day

At The End of the Day – A Poem by Patrick Carpen

At the end of the day - Poem by Patrick CarpenAt the end of the day,
What mattersĀ is not
how much money
I have in the bank;
but how many treasures
I have stored
in heaven…

At the end of the day,
What matters most
is not
how many children
of my own
I have…

But how many children
I have given love and care to…
whether or not
they were my own…

At the end of day…
What matters most
is not how many disappointments
I faced
But how many people
I helped
Through their hardships

At the end of the day…
What matters
Is not how many relationships I’ve had
But the fact
That I’ve never caused a heartbreak
or left anyone crying.

At the end of the day…
What matters
Is not how many medals
I’ve won…
But the fact
That I’ve always played fair.

At the end of the day
What matters
Is not how successful or unsuccessful
I’ve been
But the fact
that I’ve never hurt another human being.

At the end of the day
What matters
Is not how many palaces
I’ve built for myself
but how many shelters
I’ve built
For people who need it.

At the end of the day.
What matters
Is not how rich I am
In the eyes of men
But how precious
I am
In the sight
Of God.
