Lesson Sixteen – The Organic Garden

An organic garden is a garden which uses no man-made fertilizers or pesticides. Instead, organic gardeners seek natural ways of enriching soil and eliminating pests. For example, organic gardeners do research to find out what kinds of plants repel pests. And believe me…there are plants that do that! Organic gardeners make use of natural fertilizers such as cow manure and employ techniques such as composting to create rich soil. Not only do these methods create better results, but they are much cheaper. On top of that, produce from organic gardens are way healthier for humans than non-organic gardens or farms. And that’s just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to the benefits of organic gardening.

Organic: natural, untreated, pure, unadulterated, unpolluted, untainted, wholesome, uncontaminated

Man-Made: artificial, non-natural, synthetic, imitation, simulated, contrived

Seek: procure, hunt, search for, investigate, explore, pursue, examine

Natural:  pure, organic, unprocessed, untreated, raw, crude, biological, unrefined

Enriching: augmenting, supplementing, improving, developing, enhancing, boosting, increasing
