The WordPress Dashboard

So, we’ve successfully completed all the steps in installing the WordPress Software onto our domain name.

So let’s type our domain name and see what happens.

What do you know? A website loads. I don’t think that’s the WordPress theme I selected. It looks like something went wrong, but it’s part of life I guess. Every now and then, things don’t work exactly the way they were supposed to, for some strange reason or the other, and we have to do a little troubleshooting.

Nevertheless, we now have a website up and running. But it’s not all that of a website, is it? Nah, not really. It’s just a very basic WordPress blog, and it needs a lot of customization. So here is where the fun begins.

To start working on our newly born WordPress Website, we have to log in to the dashboard. How do we do that? Remember, we had set up a username and password. So, the link to log in to your WordPress Dashboard would be yourdomainname/wp-admin.

In this case, my domain name is hotelamazonasgy.com, therefore, the log in would be hotelamazonasgy.com/wp-admin.

So I type that into my browser and I type in my username and password, and I hit the “Log In” button, and that’s it: I’m in my WordPress Dashboard.

The picture above is sort of like what the WordPress Dashboard looks like. We’ll do a lot of explanation about this in the future.

So let’s go on to our next lesson: Creating Our First WordPress Page.
