In today’s day and age, one might argue that setting up an internet cafe is pretty much like selling ice to the eskimos. After all, there are wifis all over, data plans everywhere, and an internet connection in almost every home.
But the truth is, you really can sell ice to the eskimos! Does that come as a bit of a surprise to you? It shouldn’t! After all, ice is being sold to the eskimos everyday! Just as long as you package the ice beautifully, give it a fancy name, perhaps another name that means the same thing…and advertise it well, you’re going to reap great financial rewards in selling ice to the eskimos!
This is because of two things: people don’t like to think, and people like to follow the trends. They like to be in style. On top of that, they like to get everything all posh, easy and spelt out for them. Whew!
OK. The above may be a bit of an exaggeration. But the truth is, the internet cafe is a booming business today, inspite of all the advanced internet coverage everywhere.
I am writing this article from an internet cafe in Boa Vista. They have a really good system of control and about 20 computers. Many of these users don’t just come to surf the internet, they come to play computer games as well.
The cost for using the internet cafe here is 3 Brazilian reals per hour. That’s pretty cheap I think. I was bored with waiting for the bus over at the bus station in Boa Vista, and what do you know? I wrote a whole article about internet cafes!
I have plans to set up internet cafes in Lethem and around the world as well. After all, it’s convenient and fun.
